How we grade non-alcoholic wine

Every wine on NeoVina is scored against one benchmark: the best non-alcoholic wine — not conventional wine. We don't ask whether a bottle tastes like the alcoholic version. We ask whether it's a great drink in its own right. A high grade means it stands with the best NA wine made today.

Each review is written by a sommelier who tastes the wine across four questions. Every question is answered on a five-word scale, and the four answers combine into a single letter grade.

The four questions

  • True to style

Does this convince as wine, or fall short?

  • Balance

Do the parts work together, or does one push too hard?

  • Complexity

Does this have depth to explore, or is it one simple note?

  • Finish

Does the taste linger, or vanish the moment you swallow?

The grades

  • A

Exceptional. Among the best non-alcoholic wine available.

  • B

Recommended. A genuinely good bottle, worth reaching for.

  • C

Solid. Drinkable and honest, with room to grow.

  • D

Mediocre. Falls short of what NA wine can be.

We publish every grade, including D. An honest reference is only useful if it tells you what to skip as well as what to buy.

Where a sommelier's judgment differs from the combined score, they can set the grade themselves and tell you why. When that happens, the reason is shown alongside the wine.
