In 1893, the company was founded by Jakob Nauer under the name Nauer & Co. In the same year, a wine cellar with a capacity of 50,000 litres was built. Above it, a wooden house was constructed, and the company began trading in wine, building materials, and grain. Already during the founding years, Jakob Nauer was ill and was forced to sell the business to his brother, Emil Nauer, in 1895.
